The monument of Lidice is a reminder of the Nazi occupation during the World War II. The horror of the occupation was emphasized by the liquidation of most of the inhabitants of the village of Lidice as revenge for the assassination of SS Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich, Deputy Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia attacked on May 1942 in Prague.
